While there are some of the best restaurants in Vietnam in Saigon, there is also some good street food in the city. Some may call it street meat, but a good meal can be had on the streets of Saigon. Have an authentic Saigon experience dining with the locals on the side of the road.
Bot Chen: This dish is made of pan-fried rice flour cake with egg and is the perfect place to get a quick snack while in Saigon. The thick, rectangular pieces of flour cake. Golden crisp on the outside covers the supple texture on the inside.
Wok-fried snails in heavenly sauce: This is the perfect place to stop and eat after a day of shopping. Some consider these the best snails in the city and they are the perfect appetizer to help hold shoppers over until dinner.
Hu Tiu Nam Vang: Otherwise known as pork and crab noodle soup, this delicacy can be ordered dry, but with how tasty the soup is, the best way to order it is with the soup included. The soup is seafood based with a light broth.
Fried tuna steaks: This street food can be served with all the toppings as a nice sandwich. Add all of the fixings and enjoy some friend tuna steaks on the streets of Saigon.
Pho: Known as the unofficial dish of Vietnam, Pho is a noodle soup that is similar to Hu Tiu Nam Vang, and has one of the best flavors in the city.
Banh khot: This food can work as either a snack or a meal. It is very unique in that it is a small dish that looks similar to pancakes. It is golden brown and crispy on the inside and soft on the inside.
Gelatinous Mystery Bits: It is made of pressed meat in sweet vinegar sauce. This is certainly one of the most interesting streets meats in the city.
Chicken and rice: For a late night snack, chicken and rice stalls will pop up all around the city. The food can be found on many street corners and goes well with a nice cold bottle of Tiger Beer.
